The opportunity was there.

Danish debut in the NBA and thus Danish history writing with Gabriel ‘Iffe’ Lundberg in the lead role.

But the match between the Phoenix Suns and the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night was without the Dane on the field.

Iffe was in Phoenix Suns Arena, pictures showed that he was with the team before and after and was even spotted down at the replacement bench during the match, where he was in dialogue with the coaches.

But he was not dressed.

– It’s maybe a bit random somewhere, but it’s extremely crazy too. I’m happy to be here, but of course I would rather have played the match, he told TV 2 Sport.

He did not comment in the interview on what the actual reasoning had been. But an obvious bid must be that he is simply not ready.

He tells TV 2 that he is happy that it was not against the 76ers, the debut came.

– Because then I also got the opportunity to get used to the situation and meet them all. Look at it all, be here and see how the fans handle it all at home, he says.

Gabriel ‘Iffe’ Lundberg recently switched to the NBA as the first Danish player ever, after he had his contract with CSKA Moscow terminated as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
