England train on penalties

England coach Gareth Southgate said he has started training players on penalties in preparation for the World Cup in Qatar.

Southgate has always emphasized his belief that success in penalty kicks is about skill, not luck, and for this reason the England team began training on penalty kicks before the World Cup begins in November.

“We got into different details with the players about the things that they need to develop in order to be world champions,” Southgate added.

“We didn’t have the opportunity to do this in detail in the fall as we should have been focusing on the qualifying matches, so we felt it was a good time in this camp to start this up. Penalties were part of that.”
