Viktor Claesson changes to FCK and will help win the championship

Watch Claesson shine in the Champions League here.

There is one big goal in FCK this spring.

The championship is in house, after two seasons where competitors have run with the DM title.

The Copenhageners are now even stronger in the battle for the championship, as they have just picked up the Swedish national team player Viktor Claesson.

It writes FCK on its website. The deal runs for the rest of the season.

– Viktor had ended up in an unfortunate situation due to the war in Ukraine, which made him no longer want to play in Russian football, says sports director Peter Christiansen.

– The unfortunate circumstances have meant that we have been able to associate him until the summer. Until then, we have had the opportunity to look at each other, and then we take the dialogue on whether the collaboration should continue.

PC says that Claesson has been on the wish list through the last 3-4 transfer windows, and that FCK has been in constant dialogue with his back country.

Viktor Claesson rejoices over the agreement.

– I am very happy that I now get the opportunity in FC Copenhagen, which I of course know very well from a lot of Swedish national team mates over the years.

– I look forward to coming to Copenhagen and doing everything I can to help the team win the championship, and then we have to see what the future brings after that, says the Swede.

On Wednesday, the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet was the first with the news that Claesson and FCK were close to each other, and Ekstra Bladet subsequently confirmed the negotiations.

The 30-year-old Swede has been without a club since March 5, when he suspended his contract with Russian Krasnodar following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Claesson has his starting point on the edge, where FCK already has players like Roony Bardghji, Paul Mukairu, William Bøving and Akinkunmi Amoo. However, the Swede can also perform in other places.

In our system, he can roughly assert himself in the top six positions with his qualities that are both technically and physically great. We look forward to getting him to Copenhagen and see him in the white jersey, says Peter Christiansen.

The new FCK player has appeared 58 times for Sweden’s national team. He was involved from the start on Thursday against the Czech Republic, while he sat on the bench throughout the match on Tuesday, when the Swedes lost to Poland and thus missed the World Cup.

Sunday begins the championship game. With ten rounds left, Jess Thorup’s team leads the Superligaen by six points down to the nearest pursuer, FC Midtjylland. On April 10, the two gold competitors clash in the Park.

The park’s course received massive criticism on Tuesday from Kasper Schmeichel – read more here.
