Berlin kebab shop announces European Championship confirmation for Antonio Rüdiger

Football star Antonio Rüdiger has received his confirmation for the European Championships – and has given 50 Berlin students a free kebab. In a video message on Instagram, the operator of Rüdiger’s former favorite Berlin snack bar informed the Real Madrid defender about his nomination for the home tournament.

“Hi, Antonio, my good guy. I wanted to let you know that you have been nominated for the European Championships. Since you were also my guest as a student, the first 50 students will get the kebab for free today,” said the operator of Hisar Fresh Food in the Schöneberg district. There is a Rüdiger jersey with a dedication hanging on the wall. “Hisar Döner = Best Döner. Huge anticipation for the tournament,” Rüdiger replied on Instagram.

The German Football Association (DFB) has been announcing individual European Championship nominations since Sunday on TV shows and on Instagram via prominent people or friends and acquaintances of the professionals. The Berliner and ex-Herthan player Maximilian Mittelstädt was nominated on Tuesday in another post by the music artist Peter Schilling. Mittelstädt scored the first goal under the new DFB goal anthem “Major Tom”. The official squad presentation will take place on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the general sponsor VW branch in Berlin.

Nomination for Real star Rüdiger unsurprisingly

Rüdiger’s European Championship nomination is no surprise. The defender is a regular player for national coach Julian Nagelsmann alongside Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah in central defense. The 31-year-old, like his Real colleague Toni Kroos and Dortmund’s Niclas Füllkrug and Nico Schlotterbeck, will start preparing for the tournament late. The Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund is still scheduled for June 1st at Wembley.

Antonio Rüdiger is a native of Neukölln. He learned to play football, among other things, at the traditional Neukölln club Tasmania 1900. However, he did not find a place in the sought-after Hertha BSC youth academy. At the age of 15, he moved to Borussia Dortmund’s youth academy. Today, according to the online platform Transfermarkt, he is one of the most valuable defenders in Germany.
