Portuguese club leads race for Vitor Roque, says newspaper

The soap opera Victor Roque remains at Barcelona. But it may be coming to an end. According to the newspaper Sporto Portofrom Portugal, is the club closest to signing the Brazilian striker.

In this Monday’s text (17), the portal highlights the good relationship between Deco, director of Barcelona, and André Villas-Boas, president of the Portuguese club. Furthermore, the possibility of better development for Vitor Roque is seen as positive by both the club and the Catalans’ current coach, Hansi Flick.

Despite this, Vitor Roque also remains in Barcelona’s planning. The new coach is a fan of the young man and hopes to be able to use him in the 2024/25 season. The Catalan team, however, could still be held hostage by La Liga’s financial fair play.

The key to the player’s future would be registration. Vitor Roque, it’s worth remembering, was only registered at the beginning of the year because he replaced Gavi, who ended up getting injured at the time. Now, the Spanish midfielder has recovered from injury and will be signed up by the club again.

Roque left the Athletico at the end of 2023 and joined Barça at the beginning of January. Without space under former coach Xavi, however, the Brazilian made 13 appearances, a total of 310 minutes, and scored just two goals, both in games for Espanyol.

Other clubs keeping an eye on Vitor Roque

Given the impasses, a series of clubs continue to monitor the possible signing of Vitor Roque. The most recent of these is the rival, Atlético de Madrid. Diego Simeone’s team is considering offering the Portuguese João Félix permanently to Barça in the negotiation for Roque.

In addition to Porto and Atlético de Madrid, Juventus and Napoli approached Barcelona to ask for Vitor Roque’s loan. At the same time, in England, Arsenal and Tottenham await a decision from Barça to decide whether to make a proposal for the goalscorer.

Roque shortens vacation to maintain preparation

Vitor Roque cut his vacation short and returned to Barcelona to prepare for the European season. According to the Spanish newspaper, Sports world, the player is preparing his physical form with an eye on Barça’s next season, now under the command of German coach, Hansi Flick. Barcelona’s official re-presentation is only scheduled for July 8th.

The Spanish daily reveals that the striker hired a private physical trainer, who helps other athletes in the Barça squad, such as midfielder Sergi Roberto. It is with this professional that the attacker does double daily sessions at his own home gym.
