Boston Celtics record champions with 18 titles

The Boston Celtics are now the league’s record champions with 18 titles. Three days after the defeat in Dallas, the basketball team won convincingly in Boston on Monday evening (local time) with a score of 106:88.

In the fifth duel of the final series, this was the fourth victory needed for the team around stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. The Mavericks around Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Würzburg’s Maxi Kleber, on the other hand, have to wait a little longer for their second championship – the only one so far in 2011 was led by Dirk Nowitzki.

Hope for a sensational comeback

The Mavericks won in Dallas on Friday by 38 points, keeping fans’ hopes of a sensational comeback alive – no NBA team has ever managed that after three defeats in the first three games. But in the TD Garden, the Celtics made it clear from the start that they would not allow themselves a second slip-up. In the last two minutes of the first quarter, Boston caused excitement in the stands with a 12:3 run, and by halftime the lead was 21 points. In the second half, the Celtics were able to maintain their lead because the Mavericks never really posed a threat.
