The UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, will host two pre-season games for the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks, on October 6 and 8, according to what was announced at a press conference in Dubai.

Abu Dhabi will be the first city in the Middle East to host matches for NBA teams on Yas Island, after signing an agreement between the League and the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi in November 2021 to take effect in 2022 and continue for years to come.

The agreement also included the establishment of the Junior NBA Basketball League in UAE schools, which was already launched in February, as well as interactive experiences with the public in the presence of current and retired American basketball stars and fitness clinics.

The Milwaukee Bucks were crowned champions in 2021 after 50 years away from the podium, and they will play in Abu Dhabi for the third time in foreign matches since the arrival of their Greek star Yannis Antetokounmpo, after the first in 2015 in London against the New York Knicks, and the second in Paris in 2020 against Charlotte Hornets.
