In the year of the 125th anniversary, the club will try to repeat the sales success of its predecessors
FC Barcelona will wear black with blaugrana details this season, in which the club celebrates its 125th anniversary, with the fourth black kit in the club’s history and seeking the sales success that the three previous shirts in that colour already had.
“For the fourth time in its history, Barça will wear a black away shirt after wearing it in 2011/12, 2013/14 and 2020/21. In all these seasons, the success among the Barça fans has been extraordinary and in the year of the club’s 125th anniversary, black will once again be the main colour on the away shirt,” the club explained.
According to the club’s statement, the kit imagines what the kits of the future will look like, mixing Barça’s iconic stripes with a black base. One of the key elements is the TPU crest, which goes from a reflective finish to a darkened crest, proudly placed between the blaugrana borders.
The 2011/12 season was the first time in Barça’s history that the players wore black on a reserve shirt, and although it was the third, it was very well received by fans. Two years later, the team once again wore a black shirt as a third kit, which also featured yellow details.
In the 2020/21 season, Barça again had a black jersey as its second shirt. On that occasion, the novelty was that it was all black, without any detail of any other colour than black.
This new black kit, with a blue and maroon stripe on each side, will be available for purchase from 4 September through the club’s e-commerce site and in all Barça Stores.
