Borussia Dortmund, the second Bundesliga club, announced the signing of Salzburg’s Austrian international, German-Nigerian striker Karim Adeyemi, minutes after confirming the departure of Norwegian international striker Erling Haaland to Manchester City.

Adeyemi (20 years and 3 international matches) signed a contract until 2027, and Adeyemi enjoys high activity and techniques and is considered one of the future stars on whom the coach of the national team, Hansi Flick, pins great hopes.

He won the domestic double (league and cup) with Salzburg over the past three years, and is the top scorer in the Austrian league with 19 goals in 27 games this season.

Adeyemi became Dortmund’s third international signing for next season, along with central defenders Niklas Zule (Bayern Munich) and Nico Schlutterbeek (Freiburg).

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said, “He is a player who has great admiration for Dortmund, his heart was beating yellow and black when he was a teenager, and he rejected several other offers from the major European leagues in order to play with Borussia Dortmund.”

Adeyemi was crowned European champion with the German Olympic team in 2021.
