Nazca Lines: these are the geoglyphs identified with the help of artificial intelligence

Research has shown one of the uses that can be given to the artificial intelligenceand it is not by creating robots or chatbots that threaten human intelligence. On the contrary, what it does is complement a job, and the result is the discovery of 303 new geoglyphs in the desert of Bornin Peru.

This work was carried out by Yamagata University, in conjunction with IBM Research. The use of AI also made it possible to find these new geoglyphs in just six months, compared to the previous method, which took much longer and took almost a century to find the number of 430 geoglyphs.

To identify the geoglyphs, researchers used AI that analyzed a large amount of data from geospatial images produced from airplanes, AFP reported. This was to identify priority areas of probable geoglyphs for field studies.

The results have identified “giant linear geoglyphs” that may represent wild animals or some human activities, including domesticated camelids.

These geoglyphs are estimated to be around 2,000 years old. They can only be seen from the sky and are considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
