MADRID, 14 Jun. – –

Niantic is working on a augmented reality video game based on franchise Transformers, that will allow players to join the Autobots through their mobile screen in the real world.

Transformers: Heavy Metal is the new augmented reality title that Niantic is preparing in association with Hasbro, TOMY and the development studio Very Very Spaceship, as executive product Phil Hong reported on Monday, in a statement on the Niantic website.

The game is being developed on Niantic’s Lightship platform, and while not many details have been shared, it is known that it will allow players “team up with characters like Bumblebee and the Autobots in the real world.“

Transformers: Heavy Metal will be released at the end of the year around the world, although before it will have a limited rollout of the beta in some countries.
