Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain models of Accent 2019-2022, Elantra 2021-2023 and Elantra HEV 2021-2022, according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The vehicles have been pulled because in the event of a collision, the driver’s and / or front passenger’s seat belts may explode after activation and cause injury.
As a result, three injuries were reported, two in the U.S. and one in Singapore.
If the defective vehicle is on the recall list, owners will receive a recall notice by mail by July 15th. They can go to the showroom to install new seat belts for free.
Non-warranty Hyundai owners are also entitled to repairs if their car is recalled.
