Discovering ancient beaches on Mars

Mars can be an ideal resort with sand beaches along a giant ocean. The trace of this beach was discovered by China’s robot, which is the latest evidence of the existence of Deuteronilus ocean more than 3 billion years ago.

Like the original oceans on Earth, Deuteronilus can once contain life. New research published in magazines Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences On 25/2.

Chuc Dung robot landed in Utopia Planitia, one of the biggest and oldest collision tanks on Mars, in 2021. Since then, it has moved along the dry coast, searching for signs of ice and water that evaporated.

When scanning the area below the surface of Mars with radar, wish Dung discovers the coating structures containing coastal sediments. Like the beach on Earth, this sediment is often formed from the residues that the tide and the waves leave. “This immediately attracted our attention because it showed that this place had a wave, which means a dynamic surface between air and water,” said Benjamin Cardenas, Associate Professor of Geology at Pennsylvania State University.

The more careful comparison with the Earth coast helps the scientists to eliminate other origin. Unlike sediments formed by rivers, winds or volcanic activity, thickness and shape of sediments, Chuc Dung discovered more suitable to the coastal origin.

If actually existed, Deuteronilus may have disappeared after only one billion years. However, this time is enough for primitive living types to develop inside.

Scientists may soon obtain a sure answer about life on Mars. Fire dust samples, even evidence of ancient life, may have been collected by Perseverance, Robot NASA operating on Mars since 2021.

Initially, NASA intended to launch the ship to bring this sample in 2026, but the budget issue caused the mission to be delayed until 2040. NASA is calling for support from private companies to accelerate the progress of the mission.
