Google has implemented a new security function for ‘smartphones’ and Android tablets, with which the devices that have been blocked for three consecutive days, with the last update of Google Play services will automatically restart.
Technology has launched version 25.14 of Google Play services, in which it has included news related to device connectivity, safety and system management, among other issues.
In this sense, with respect to the novelties of security and privacy of the devices, Google has implemented a new function with which it will restart the ‘smartphones’ and tablets with Android operating system automatically, provided they have been blocked for three days consecutively.
This has been shared on its notes of the Google system version, where it has detailed that it is a function designed for mobile devices such as ‘smartphones’ and tablets, so it will not affect the rest of the Android devices, such as TV or PC.
Specifically, this characteristic adds one more security layer to the device since, when restarting it, it returns to a state of Before First Unlock (BFU), that is, prior to the first unlocking, a moment in which the data is still encrypted because they have not been unlocked, as well as the password or the biometric log sensitive.
In this way, if the telephone or tablet have not been used in more than 72 hours, they will be automatically restarted in order to stay in a more protected state until they are used again, thus avoiding being ‘hacked’ despite being blocked.
It must be taken into account that it is a security function that has already been integrated into other devices, such as iPhone with iOS 18.1 and the inactivity restart function. Precisely, this option restarts the iPhone when 96 hours have passed since the user unlocked the device for the first time after turning it on.
With all this, the new automatic restart function will be integrated into the ‘smartphones’ and Android tablets with the launch of the news of Google Play services with version 25.14, which will be implemented during the next weeks.
