We have compiled the ten international airlines with the highest number of deadly accidents in the last three decades, along with a close detail of each aerial disaster that occurred. The companies all produced the lessons from the heavy disasters.
1. Malaysia Airlines
Number of fatal accidents: 2
The first and unresolved accident to date has occurred on March 8, 2014, when MH370 Flight came out of Koala Lumipur on her way to Beijing with 239 people on board, including 227 passengers and 12 crew members. After less than an hour, the aircraft disappeared from the radar. A widespread international investigation raised many hairs – from a kidnapping to the pilot’s suicide – but the fractures of the aircraft were found only months later in the Indian Ocean, and with which there was no clear solution to what happened.
Only four months later, in July 2014, another disaster occurred in the world: Flight MH17 came out of Amsterdam to Cola Lumipur, with 298 passengers and staff. When the plane passed over the eastern Ukraine, it was dropped by a BUK Russian air missile launched from the rebel -controlled area. There were no survivors. The International Investigation Committee stated that it was a deliberate abortion. Both disasters made the company identified with modern aviation tragedies.
2. Lion Air (Indonesia)
Number of fatal accidents: 2
On October 29, 2018, the company’s JT610 flight crashed minutes after the take -off from Jacket. The aircraft was the new Boeing Max 8 sample. All 189 people on board – 181 passengers and 8 crew members – were killed. The investigation revealed that a new system called MCAS that operated automatically pushed the aircraft bow down to the pilot resistance. This was the first accident of the innovative and flooding model of communication between Boeing and its customers.
Another event took place on April 13, 2013. Flight 904 crashed to the sea near Bali Airport when a landing attempt. The plane split into two, but all 108 passengers and staff survived. However, some passengers were seriously injured and one of them died of his wounds. The investigation determined that the pilot was excessive, ignoring the conditions of the wind and obstacles.
3. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)
Number of fatal accidents: 2
On May 22, 2020, a PK8303 flight crashed full of full passengers without visible malfunctions. Upon arrival in Crichy, the plane tried to land twice, but the first landing was non -wheeled, causing the engine rubbing. After trying to take off again, the aircraft lost power and height and crashed into a residential neighborhood. Of 99 passengers and staff, 97 were killed. Only two passengers survived. About 10 civilians were also injured on the ground. The investigation showed a distinct human failure and a lack of concentration of pilots.
The second fatal accident occurred on July 10, 2006, with flight 688 crashed shortly after take -off. The plane got stuck in the air after a engine failure, and couldn’t return to land. All 45 people on board were killed. Once again, poor maintenance and risks are claimed.
4. Iran water
Number of fatal accidents: 2
Although the IR655 flight crash occurred in July 1988, before the surveyed period, it is difficult to ignore: the aircraft was accidentally dropped by an American destroyer in the Persian Gulf, and all 290 people on board were killed. At later events, the company also experienced flight 956 in October 2002, with a plane with 119 passengers and staff crashed in the mountains near Espanyn. All passengers were killed. In many cases, it is alleged that old airline infrastructure, inadequate maintenance and international sanctions that limit parts purchase – all contributed to a higher risk level.
5. Ethiopian Airlines
Number of fatal accidents: 2
On March 10, 2019, the ET302 flight crashed after take -off from Addis Ababa to Nairobi. The aircraft was a Boeing 737 Max, the same as the Lion Air model that crashed months earlier. All 157 people were killed. Here, too, there was an involvement of the MCAS system that was not understandable to pilots. The accident led to a global ground of all Max aircraft for almost two years.
The second accident occurred in 1996, when the ET961 flight was kidnapped by three Ethiopian citizens who demanded to fly to Australia. The pilots warned that the fuel would not suffice, but the kidnappers ignored. The plane crashed into the sea near the Comoro Islands in an emergency landing. Of the 175 passengers and staff, 125 were killed. The incident shocked the international community and emphasized the importance of security on flights.
6. Air France
Number of fatal accidents: 2
On June 1, 2009, AF447 Flight Lede Mario de Janeiro on its way to Paris. In the middle of the flight, over the Atlantic, the aircraft was in a thunderstorm. Pitot (Pitot) failure to fail, and the automatic system is cut off. The pilots were alarmed, performed incorrect actions, and the plane went into the sea and dived into the sea. All 228 people on board were killed. Only after two years the black boxes were found 3,900 meters in depth.
Another accident occurred in April 1995, when flight 422 crashed after the appearance of Bogota. The plane rose too quickly, lost strength and crashed in the mountains. 159 passengers and staff were killed out of 163.
7. China Eastern Airlines
Number of fatal accidents: 2
On March 21, 2022, MU5735 was crashed in Guanishi County in southern China. The plane lost a height at a dizzying speed of more than 800 km / h and entered vertical ground. All 132 passengers and staff were killed. Investigation by American and Chinese authorities has actually made a deliberate possibility of one of the staff.
Even earlier, in December 2004, flight 5210 crashed after take -off from lottery in northern China. The plane was not properly communicated before the flight, resulting in the take -off. 55 people were killed.
8. Ukraine International Airlines
Number of fatal accidents: 1
On January 8, 2020, the PS752 flight made Tehran after a tense night of Iranian missile launches at American bases. Minutes after the take -off, I was launched at the Iranian NMA – the Iranians suspected it was an American threat.
9. Tam Airlines (Brazil)
Number of fatal accidents: 1
On July 17, 2007, Flight 3054 tried to land at Kao Paulo Airport. Due to severe rain conditions and a short route, the plane failed to stop, slipped, crossed the end of the track and collided with a fuel warehouse. 187 people were killed, including all passengers and staff and 12 other people on the ground. The investigation revealed that the braking system was not properly activated in one engine, in addition to a dangerous design of the route.
10. American Airlines
Number of fatal accidents: 3
Flight AA965 (December 20, 1995): The MD-82 plane was on its way from Los Angeles to Cali, Colombia, when he deviated from his or her landing and collided with nearby mountains. On the deck were 155 passengers and 8 crew members; 159 were killed, and four were saved. The accident led to reading improvements in navigation systems and pilots practice for complex flight conditions.
Flight AA1420 (August 1, 1999): MD-82 plane on its way from Little Rock, Arkansas, crashed during a hard landing at night, under regular rain and strong winds, at Little Rock’s airport. On the deck were 139 passengers and 6 crew members. 11 people were killed, and 134 were saved. Hard reviews have been raised about the team’s decision -making in emergency and the lack of operation of braking and inversion systems.
Flight AA587 (November 12, 2001): Airbus A300, on its way from New York to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, crashed shortly after take -off. The vertical (tail) direction stabilizer was torn from the plane following aggressive and recurring and unanswered clicks of the pilot on the direction of the direction, in response to wakefulness from a previous aircraft. The plane fell into a residential neighborhood in Queens, New York. All 260 passengers and staff were killed, and five people were killed on the ground. The event led to changes in formulating procedures and practicing pilots about steering wheel operations under certain conditions.
In an era when a flight has become as routine as a bus ride, every air accident causes in -depth investigations, lessons lessons and safety improvement. But history indicates a heavy price that is raised when mistakes accumulate 35,000 feet.
