As TechSpot has learned, Sam Altman tried to cancel his Roadster reservation with Tesla and get his $50,000 deposit back, but so far he is not succeeding. The portal reminds that the new generation Roadster was presented in 2017 as “the fastest production car”, but actual deliveries are persistently absent, so other individuals who were forced to give a huge deposit are also dissatisfied with the long wait.
The wider tech community is also buzzing about the topic – the news is circulating on Reddit and other networks, with comments that seven and a half years of waiting is too long even for enthusiasts. In the announcements, it is emphasized that Altman is not the only one demanding a refund, but there is no official news about the start of deliveries yet. This kind of story definitely has an undertone to the topics we deal with in Croatia, so I guess the only good thing is that we can draw ‘comfort’ from this, as even bigger Croatian companies are late in delivering their promises, and that to rich and influential people like the head of Open Ai.
Take a look at what kind of racing car it is:
Over the years, Tesla has repeatedly moved the plans for the Roadster, and reservations were taken with high advances (for some series, more than 50,000 dollars). This case once again stimulated the discussion about the practice of long “preorder” financing and the transparency of deadlines in large auto projects.
