The Apple Assistant update, Siri will be based on a model developed by Google that will allow it to offer more advanced artificial intelligence (AI) functions, but without changing the technology company’s interface.
To provide advanced AI features to Siri, Apple considered using technology from third-party companies such as Anthropic or OpenAI, although the agreement has finally been closed with Google, which is working on a customized model based on Gemini’s capabilities.
This model will run on Apple’s private cloud servers, but it doesn’t mean that the Google services or Gemini features currently available on Android devices will appear in Siri.
As Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurmen explains in his ‘Powen On’ newsletter, Siri will keep the Apple user interface, just that Its new features will be model-driven.
The redesigned voice assistant is expected to arrive in spring 2026, much smarter and more useful. It will also incorporate what is known as Apple Intents, the integration of Siri with other applications and with ability to understand natural language to facilitate complete control of the device with just your voice.
