In an age where laptops are measured not only by performance but also by flexibility, design, battery life and a smart user experience, the Yoga 9 2-in-1 Aura Edition, the hybrid laptop from Lenovo stood up for me in all categories.
The Yoga 9 is a creative and smart work monster that combines the advantages of a laptop and a tablet. The hybrid mobile was designed in collaboration with Intel to allow as much flexibility as possible for the user.
The mobile comes with a beautiful 14-inch OLED touch screen with WQUXGA (3840×2400) resolution, with a brightness that reaches up to 600 nits in HDR mode, support for Dolby Vision and DisplayHDR True Black 500. The result is accurate colors and a very high contrast ratio, so I had no problem viewing any site I visited, whether it was in closed spaces or open public places.
The new Yoga 9 is equipped with a 14-inch screen with a 4K WQUXGA resolution (3840×2400) – and this is one of the most impressive screens seen on a laptop in this category. The brightness reaches up to 600 nits in HDR mode, with support for and, which ensures accurate colors and an almost infinite contrast ratio (100,000:1). All of this is wrapped in glossy glass with an anti-fingerprint coating. In addition, the computer already comes with a case and an active touch pen that are included in the package. The pen detects changes in pressure levels so that it enables particularly natural work on the screen – whether it’s writing, drawing or editing photos. The combination of such a screen with a quality pen makes this computer a real tool for creators, designers and students who need direct interaction with the screen. Keep in mind that because it is a computer that has been reduced to a tablet – that is, you can fold the screen back, place it as a viewing or working screen on a surface or even rotate it all the way and place it on your lap, so it is even more convenient to work with it – especially if you need it to create.
Another strong point I noticed in this review is the battery. The computer is equipped with a Polymer 75Wh battery with fast charging support, but you will hardly need fast charging. You can play or work with this mobile for long hours and not feel any heat or massive battery loss. In daily use – browsing, working on documents, video calls and watching movies, it easily lasts a full working day and even more. Charging for only half an hour is enough for several hours of work, so even if the charger is forgotten at home, there is no reason to worry.
What about the performance itself? So at the heart of the computer is Intel’s new generation of AI processors, the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V with a dedicated NPU for artificial intelligence capabilities. This generation of processors is a significant leap forward and it is definitely noticeable in everything – from energy consumption to running games and software. The processor is able to accelerate tasks such as video editing, graphic rendering or managing AI applications smoothly and quietly. In general, this computer, together with 32GB of memory and an Intel Arc graphics card, can easily run extremely heavy editing software and even demanding games at medium to high settings.
The keyboard comes with RGB lighting, quiet and comfortable typing, especially after you get used to going down to the 14-inch size – even after long hours of typing, you won’t feel discomfort in your fingers.
In terms of connections, despite the thin structure of the laptop (15.9 mm), it offers an impressive variety of connections: one USB-A port, two USB-C® ports (one of them with Thunderbolt), connecting external monitors, a headphone jack and, of course, support for WIFI and Bluetooth 5.4.
The Yoga 9 2-in-1 Aura Edition is definitely an impressive computer with very few shortcomings, its low weight of 1.32 kg, the versatility of the foldable touch screen, and the power of Intel’s new AI processors, make it an extremely effective work tool for any creator and a platform to play games on, even those with quite a few requirements. Recommended price for the consumer is NIS 9,068.
