Tinder has released a new function called ‘Plus One’ (‘plus one’ in English), which aims to assist its users in meeting new people to accompany them to weddings.
Tinder users will be able to specify in the explore tab of the app if they are seeking for escorts for a wedding or if they are prepared to be the ‘plus one’ for other people starting this Thursday, according to the business.
Due to the ceremonies postponed by the pandemic, the WeddingWire specialist platform for weddings forecasts a 20 percent increase in weddings in 2021 and 2022, which coincides with a 45 percent increase in mentions to ‘plus one’ on Tinder profiles.
Tinder has assured that “the traditional rule of only taking a companion to a wedding when in a relationship does not fit with modern dating habits,” and notes that 35 percent of wedding guests between 22 and 26 years old ask If they can bring a companion before confirming attendance.
The new feature is part of explore, a new section within Tinder that launched in September that seeks that its members can share experiences with people with the same tastes.
