MADRID, 17 Jun. (Portaltic/EP) –
The global tablet market, which already grew in 2020 after years of declines, has skyrocketed during the first quarter of 2021, in which it has registered 53 percent more shipments than a year ago, led by Apple and Samsung.
This is clear from the analysis published by Counterpoint Research, which has analyzed the global market for tablets after the 19 percent annual growth experienced in 2020 because of the pandemic.
The number of tablet shipments in the first quarter of 2021 grew 53 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, although it did not manage to exceed the sales levels of the last three months of 2020, which were the highest of the last five years.
Apple is the leading company in the global tablet market, and after growing 33 percent in sales of iPads in 2020, the first quarter managed to get 37 percent of the total quota.
In second position is the South Korean Samsung, which also grows compared to 2020 and goes from 16 to 20 percent market share. They follow him Lenovo y Amazon, both with 9 percent, followed by china Huawei, which continues its collapse after the US veto and goes from 11 percent in 2020 to 5 percent in the first quarter of 2021.
