LibreOffice 7.4 Community improves performance and compatibility and introduces new features in Writer, Calc and Impress

LibreOffice has presented LibreOffice 7.4 Community the new main version of the free office suite that is available for PC with improvements in performance and compatibility and new features in calculation, text and presentation applications.

More than 140 collaborators have developed the new features of LibreOffice 7.4 Community, while about 530 volunteers have provided localizations in 158 languages.

This new version of the free and open source office suite generally improves performance and compatibility, as well as the support for WebP images and EMZ/WMZ files, and introduces help pages for the ScriptForge script library and a search field for the Extension Manager, as reported by The Document Foundation in a statement.

Three of its applications also present novelties. Writer, the word processor, has introduced new typographic adjustments for hyphenation. It has also improved the tracking of changes in the footnotes area and shows the original numbers in the change tracking of edited lists.

For its part, Calc, the spreadsheet, has expanded its support for 16,384 columns in spreadsheets, allows you to search for sheet names with a new menu item and has additional functions the AutoSum dropdown ‘widget’.

In the case of Impress, the presentation application, the LibreOffice 7.4 Community has introduced a new support for document themes.

LibreOffice 7.4 Community is available for Windows, macOS (with Apple Silicon and Intel processors), and Linux.
