Scientists reveal the location of the doomsday clock hands

The clock symbolizes scientists’ assessment of how close the world is to nuclear destruction or other catastrophe.

Researchers are telling today where the hands of the so-called doomsday clock are set.

Developed at the beginning of the Cold War in 1947, the clock symbolizes scientists’ assessment of how close the world is to nuclear destruction or other catastrophe. Midnight means the end of the world. The clock is located at the University of Chicago.

In January of last year Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists -science publication’s researchers reported that the doomsday clock was a hundred seconds away from the end of the world. The clock time has been changed more than 20 times. For example, in 1991, its hands were in a much better position than today, when the clock was 17 minutes to twelve.
