Windows 10 registers a bug that forces users to enter a payment method to upgrade

Several users have reported an error in the update of Windows 10 that forces you to enter credit card information to purchase Microsoft 365 Family despite having clicked the “no” button to continue installing the new version.

This problem has been identified in the version of Windows 10 22H2, that has redirected users to a payment form, regardless of whether they show interest in this payment package from Microsoft.

Occasionally, the device requires installing updates to the operating system with which it works in order to continue providing its services correctly, as well as receive corresponding fixes and patches in case of security breaches.

Once the update process has started, which is presented in full screen, the system offers the possibility to subscribe to Microsoft 365 Family and includes two buttons at the bottom of the interface: ‘Try free’ y ‘No, thanks’.

Despite clicking on the latter, users were forced to enter their credit card details on the next page, where a form appeared to include the name, the card number, its expiration date and its security code (CVC or CVV), as reported by some users through Reddit.

Microsoft sources have confirmed to Windowslatest that this error is caused by an accidental change of the landing page of the buttons, so that the free trial button corresponds to the ‘No thanks’ command, while the ‘No thanks’ button , thank you’ automatically goes to the registration form.
