Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, Qualcomm turbocharges mid-range smartphones

The latest mobile platform, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, was unveiled by Qualcomm Technologies. “Snapdragon is a byword for premium mobile experiences. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2’s release today demonstrates Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.’s capacity to add some of the most popular flagship features to our series Snapdragon-7, making them more accessible to a wider audience, according to Christopher Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets. We are dedicated to offering the most cutting-edge solutions to satisfy the requirements of consumers, of our clients, and of the industry at large.

At a peak speed of 2.91 GHz, the Qualcomm Kryo CPU in the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 performs more than 50% better than the previous generation, and the Adreno GPU performs twice as well. The system-wide power efficiency of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 has increased by up to 13% for continuous everyday use. The entire platform has built-in on-device AI. Certain Snapdragon Elite Gaming capabilities, such as Auto Variable Rate Shading, are supported by the new SoC for gaming (VRS). By rendering in-focus content at full resolution and scene background at a lesser resolution, Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 optimizes battery and performance. Volume rendering further enhances the realism of particle-based game sceneries like smoke and fog. Qualcomm aptX and Snapdragon Sound on the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 provide for lag-free gaming audio and lossless music streaming.

The 18-bit triple ISP in the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 enables users to take photos in mega low light mode, taking 30 pictures and combining the best ones into one for photos that are brighter, clearer, and more colorful after dark. Users can record more camera data than 4,000 times more, resulting in images with an extremely wide dynamic range and vibrant color. Up to 200MP photo and triple exposure offset HDR video capturing from two cameras at once are supported by Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. The integrated Qualcomm AI Engine offers superior AI experiences thanks to its 40% higher performance per Watt and more than two times better AI performance than its predecessor. The Qualcomm Sensing Hub, which powers context-aware use cases like user activity recognition and acoustic scene detection, is also included. It has a specialized AI processor. AI Super Resolution on the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 provides intelligent scaling up of game scenes or images to improve the visual quality of a low resolution image (from 1080p to 4K).

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 supports additional networks, frequencies, and bandwidths globally and provides download rates of up to 4.4 Gbps thanks to the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF system. This platform supports 4G/5G Dual-Sim Dual Active (DSDA) for the first time in the Snapdragon 7 series, enabling users to use two SIM cards when traveling or separating professional and personal contacts. The Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 mobile networking solution on the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 allows for Wi-Fi speeds of up to 3.6 Gbps. With commercial product launches planned for this month, prominent OEM brands like Redmi and Realme will use the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2.
