the next big thing? Apple is planning a dramatic change in cell phones

The next big change? The MacRumors website reported that Apple has advised major US carriers to prepare for the launch of eSIM-only smartphones by September 2022. The source who spoke with the site shared a document that appears legitimate, outlining the possible time frame of the move. However, the document does not explicitly mention Apple or iPhone.

As mentioned, eSIM is a small, smart and encrypted chip that you are familiar with from your regular SIM card, and now it is expected to migrate into the body of the device itself. The tiny card basically stores the user’s cellular components, when it is embedded in the body of the device at the time of manufacture, and is not removable. Activation is done through a dedicated application of the cellular companies, or by scanning a QR code.

As part of the possible turnaround, some companies in the United States will start offering iPhone 13s without a nano-SIM card, as early as the second quarter of 2022. Only in the iPhone 15 series, which will be launched only in 2023. However, in the best tradition nothing is yet final, and it is very possible that many more changes are expected.
