Instagram launches “take a break” feature

Instagram launches a new function, called “Take a break”, which will allow users to decide how much time to spend on the platform and to have greater control and awareness in using the app.

To activate it, the launch is scheduled for 6 pm on February 16, just follow the following path: “Settings”, “Account”, “Your activity”, “Set break reminder”. Once you arrive at your destination just schedule a reminder that will remind you to take a break from Instagram after a certain time interval spent on the platform.

“Take a break” is especially designed for teenagers to better understand what it means to “surf” on a social network like Instagram. “To make sure that adolescents are aware of this new feature” reads a note “we will show them a notification suggesting to activate the reminder. From the tests carried out so far in the countries where the feature is already active it has emerged that, once the reminder is set, over 90% of teens respect it“.

The user himself will quantify his stay on Instagram thanks to the tool, already offered by the app, called “Daily reminder”, which allows you to set the amount of time they want to spend on the social network during the day and notifies them when they have reached the limit, with also the ability to disable Instagram notifications to focus seamlessly on what they are doing.

To promote a conscious and safe use, the Instagram team has made available a new “Guide” dedicated to parents and educators that provides practical advice and clear descriptions of all the features provided within the app.
