Sony announces the new PlayStation Plus, which merges its subscription services PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced that in June it will merge its current subscription services, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, into the new PlayStation Plus platform, which will offer gamers three subscription options.

“Based on more than 25 years of experience in innovating for the world of video games, this change to our subscription services underscores our continued effort to tailor our network services business to the preferences of our users,” SIE President and CEO Jim Ryan said in a statement.

The company has thus confirmed that the project known until now as ‘Spartacus’ will be consolidated under the name of PlayStation Plusin which the PlayStation Now subscription service will be integrated, which will no longer be available individually.

This new format, called PlayStation Plus, includes three levels of playwith different advantages and prices depending on the type of subscription (monthly, quarterly or annual).

PlayStationPlus Essential is the easiest level and, consequently, the most affordable. The PlayStation Plus Extra sigue and PlayStation Plus Premium. All of them will be available in June this year.

As Sony has indicated in a statement, with the disappearance of PlayStation Now, subscriptions will migrate to the most complete level of PlayStation Plus, Premiumat no additional cost until the renewal date of the old service.

On the other hand, users of both platforms, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, will migrate to a single service, which will be at the PlayStation Plus Premium level.

Finally, in the event that players only had their PlayStation Plus subscriptions active, they will remain on the PlayStation Plus Essential service.

ADVANTAGES AND PRICES

PlayStation Plus Essential is the simplest subscription mode, which includes the same benefits offered by Playstation Plus at the moment. That is, two downloadable games per month, exclusive discounts, online multiplayer access and cloud storage for saved games.

PlayStation Plus Essential tier pricing will not change from the current PlayStation Plus service. In this way, the monthly fee will continue to be 8,99 euros a month, 24,99 euros the quarterly and 59,99 euros the annual.

PlayStation Plus Extra, on the other hand, in addition to including all the advantages of the basic level, adds a catalog of up to 400 titles for PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 5 (PS5), These include games from the PlayStation Studios catalog and third-party developer partners. At this level the games are downloadable.

Users who wish to join this experience must pay 13,99 euros per month for your subscription, 39,99 euros per quarter or 99,99 euros year.

The last level of all, the most advanced, is PlayStation Premium. In this case, the subscription to this includes all the advantages of the Essential and Extra levels.

In addition, add up to 340 more gamesincluding PlayStation 3 (PS3) titles, available via cloud streaming, as well as a catalog of popular classics, available via streaming and to download for the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2 (PS2), and PSP.
