Worldline and SoftPos.eu use Correos to send ‘contactless’ payments to a depleted Spain

Worldline and SoftPos.eu have teamed up to create a smartphone app that lets rural postmen to make payments in communities without banks or ATMs in the so-called empty Spain.

SoftPos.eu’s solution, created in conjunction with Mastercard and Correos, enables you to make payments using contactless cards (‘contactless’) or your mobile phone without the use of any additional device.

The Android app transforms Android phones and tablets into contactless payment terminals, simplifying and automating the collection and payment process in regions where banks and ATMs are typically unavailable.

This approach “promotes equitable possibilities for the people of Empty Spain” and “will assist enhance the quality of life of these citizens by removing the shortage of payment solutions in these places,” according to a statement.

Correos has given personal electronic devices (PDAs) to 6,011 rural delivery personnel, with the goal of eventually reaching over 24,000 postmen across Spain.

SoftPos.eu’s partnership with Worldline “simplifies” the postman’s job because he will be able to utilize the Correos corporate PDA, which contains a payment terminal, lowering costs and opening up new business options with these neighbors.
