Twitter celebrated the hashtag birthday yesterday, shaping global culture and the way we communicate on social media. On the occasion of International Hashtag Day (#HashtagDay) Twitter has launched a new emoji that will be available in different languages, and will allow users around the world to join the conversations. In addition, this year, Hebrew language lovers can also join in the celebration with the Hashtag in the Holy Language – #YomHashtag.
Over the past 14 years, the use of hashtags has gained momentum, with 12.6 billion tweets that included at least one hashtag. About 140 million of them were unique hashtags, which indicates the creativity of the surfers, and the expansion of the discourse on the net on various and varied topics.
