A robot that flies 100 times its height

A group of researchers from the University of California revealed that robot A new feature with a unique ability to jump to a high altitude, which may contribute to its integration into operations Spaceflight and wandering on the planets.

The new robot, which was described as “Robo-HOP”, can jump more than 100 times its height, despite being 11.8 inches (30 centimeters) long and weighing only one ounce (30 grams), but is able to jump a distance 108 feet.

Researchers believe, according to a new study published in the scientific journal “Nature”, that the robot can one day be used on the moon, where gravity weakens there, which provides the robot the ability to traverse distances of about 1,640 feet, according to the team.

According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, the height of a biological jump is limited by the work that can be produced by its linear actuator (muscle) in one stroke, but by contrast, the jump height of an engineered device can be much greater because its ratchet or rotor actuator enables it to Double the ability during repetitive strikes or spins.

The robot features a rotating motor to double the action, along with specially selected springs and rubber bands that allow the system to store energy.
