A group of citizens removed the fences that were set up early this morning on Dvorski trg before the announced enthronement of the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC) Joanikije in the Cetinje Monastery.
The fences were set up to the middle of the square, which has never been the case before.
The Cetinje monastery is completely fenced and secured by strong police forces. The media report that the Communal Police did not issue a permit for the installation of fences.
In Cetinje, but also in the whole of Montenegro, tensions have risen sharply ahead of the announced enthronement in Cetinje. The enthronement of Metropolitan MCP in Cetinje, which should be held tomorrow in the Cetinje Monastery, is strongly opposed by Montenegrin national organizations, associations and almost all opposition parliamentary parties, which demanded that the act be performed in another city.
A large protest of citizens has been announced, which will be attended by the President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanović.
Yesterday, the National Security Council expressed concern over the security situation in Montenegro.
The Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church previously gave up bringing believers to Cetinje during the enthronement of Metropolitan Ioannicius, but a great ceremony is being held tonight in the Church of Christ’s Resurrection, which will be attended by the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church Porphyry.
The presence of thousands of believers has been announced, a rich cultural and entertainment program, a large stage has already been set up and preparations are coming to an end.
