Mirzoyan talked about avoiding artificial obstacles on the way to signing a peace treaty

At the meeting with the US Deputy Secretary of State, the Armenian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of avoiding artificial obstacles on the way to concluding a peace treaty after two years of negotiations and signing the agreed text.

Joshua Haq and Ararat Mirzoyan discussed regional issues. The Foreign Minister reaffirmed RA’s interest in unblocking regional communications based on well-known principles.

The American official was in Baku yesterday and met with the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan. Jeyhun Bayramov repeated Azerbaijan’s ongoing demand to change the Constitution of Armenia. Yerevan describes the demand to change the Constitution as an attempt to interfere in Armenia’s internal affairs. Baku also rejects the offer of the Armenian side to sign the currently agreed text of the peace treaty and to leave the unagreed issues to the future.

Jushu Hak and Ararat Mirzoyan today, according to the MFA’s statement, also emphasized “the importance of joint efforts in the direction of the development of strategic partnership, a new milestone in bilateral relations between Armenia and the US, and the upcoming plans have been outlined.”

“Relations between our countries have recently been developing with intense dynamics, being supplemented with new content, being built on strategic dialogue, and we are interested in continuing active cooperation in various directions,” said Ararat Mirzoyan.
