Iranian Foreign Minister unexpectedly arrived in Beirut

On Friday, October 4, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Beirut. The visit was not announced.

Together with Araghchi, a delegation of the Iranian parliament and the head of the Red Crescent Society arrived in Beirut.

Many political commentators note the obvious riskiness of the visit of the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry to the Lebanese capital during a period of active hostilities, when Beirut is regularly bombed by the Israeli Air Force.

It is likely that Araghchi will meet not only with Lebanese politicians, but also with Hezbollah leaders, which is also very unsafe.

On October 1, 2024, Iran fired hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel. In the current situation, Araghchi himself may be a legitimate target for the IDF.
