An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 hit off the coast of the Japanese island of Honshu

An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 was registered off the east coast of the Japanese island of Honshu. This was announced on Sunday, May 22, by the European Mediterranean Seismological Center.

The epicenter was located 231 km southeast of the city of Tateyama in Chiba Prefecture. The source lay at a depth of 60 km.

There were no tsunami warnings.
