The Oklahoma City Police Department rescued a 15-year-old girl who had been kidnapped and sexually exploited at an NBA game

The Oklahoma City Police Department in the United States rescued a 15-year-old girl who had been kidnapped at the Dallas Mavericks stadium during an NBA regular-season game against the Portland Trail Blazers, with the intention of placing her in a prostitution ring. This incident resulted in the arrest of eight people.

According to his father’s version, the youngster went to one of the stadium bathrooms during the game on April 8 but did not return, prompting him to report his missing to the compound’s security officers as well as the police in that Texas city.

“My daughter went missing in Dallas, this is a Dallas case, yet they refused to open a case for her,” the girl’s father claimed, slamming the Dallas Police Department openly (DPD).

“Those cases, by code, must be presented where the minor dwells,” the security force said. He also “prepared a bulletin reporting the missing teen and sent it to the department on April 11, 2022” after “generating a report and assisting the North Richland Hills Police Department (lead agency because that was where the teen resided).

However, North Richland Hills told the relative of the missing juvenile that she needed to file the complaint in Dallas because the kidnapping occurred there.

An important NGO in the search

It was in this setting that parents expressed their concerns. They went to a non-profit organization called the “Texas Counter-Trafficking Initiative,” which specializes in fighting human trafficking and located photographs of the victim on an Oklahoma website providing sexual services after a thorough search.

The family used this information to track down the youngster ten days after she was abducted. They discovered her at the Extended Stay America in Oklahoma City, around 200 kilometers from the Mavericks’ stadium.

The teen was sexually molested many times, according to the family’s attorney, Zeke Fortenberry.

The Oklahoma City Police Department detained eight persons, six women and two males, on various offenses including kidnapping, rape, human trafficking, child pornography distribution, and prostitution.

Saniya Alexander, Melissa Wheeler, Chevaun Gibson, Kenneth Nelson, Sarah Hayes, Karen Gonzales, Thalia Gibson, and Steven Hill are their names, according to Fox News.

“We appreciate the Oklahoma City Police Department’s efforts and our daughter’s recovery. My heart hurts for the unspeakable horrors my daughter had to go through during the days she was taken away, and I am so grateful that she is safe like us now “On May 5, the girl’s mother issued a statement.

The family will now want explanations from the Dallas Police Department and those in charge of the Mavericks stadium, as well as the hotel where the youngster was held hostage, for failing to enforce security standards in the presence of a minor.
