The publication of Al-Arab al-Jadid, who is published in London, claims with reference to aware sources in Cairo that Israel demanded to increase the price of gas supplied by Egypt.
According to the publication, at the end of last week in Cairo, a meeting of the energy delegations of the two countries took place to discuss cooperation in the gas industry.
During the meeting, Egypt asked Israel to increase the volume of gas supply in the summer season of 2025 to cope with the energy shortage. The publication claims that Israel agreed, provided that the gas fee will be increased by 40%.
Sources that refer to Al-Arab al-Jadid report that the Israeli position was accepted in Cairo as blackmail in order to put pressure in matters related to the Gaza sector, and that Egyptian President Abd al-Fattah al-Sisi rejected the Israeli proposal.
