A delegation of American Democratic parliamentarians is in Salvador on Monday to claim the return of the Salvadoran immigrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia, detained in this country after being exploded by Washington.
Last week, Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen had already gone to the Salvador for the same goal and had managed to meet Kilmar Abrego Garcia, expelled from the United States in mid-March with 238 Venezuelans and 22 other Salvadorians. The Trump administration accuses them of being criminals, without providing evidence.
The case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, 29-year-old father, married to an American and who had emigrated to the United States in adolescence to flee the gangs of Salvador, has become for the emblematic democrats of the abuses of the anti-migrant policy of the American government.
“We want to make sure Kilmar is still alive”
“I am in Salvador to rob the spotlight on the story of Kilmar and maintain pressure on Donald Trump to ensure his return safely at his home,” Yassamin Ansari, Representative of Arizona, said on social networks. “We want to make sure Kilmar is still alive. We want to make sure he has access to a lawyer, “she added, accompanied by parliamentarians Robert Garcia, Maxwell Frost and Maxine Dexter.
We are in a constitutional crisis.

“Trump stops, imprison and illegally expel people out of any regular procedure,” denounced on X Maxwell Frost. “We must ask the administration to account for these illegal acts and demand the release of Kilmar. Today is him, tomorrow it could be anyone, “added the representative of Florida.
The Salvadoral President says he does not have “the power to send him back to the United States”
Kilmar Abrego Garcia told Chris Van Hollen that he had first been incarcerated at the Terrorism Center for Terrorism (CECOC), a Mega-Prison for Gangs members, but that he was then transferred to another Salvadorian prison.
The Trump administration acknowledged that Kilmor Abrego Garcia had been expelled due to an “administrative error”, and the US Supreme Court demanded that the government “facilitates” its return. But Washington declares himself for the inability to remedy it, the father is now held by the Salvadoral authorities.
During a recent visit to the White House, the Salvadoral President Nayib Bukele assured that he had “not the power to send him back to the United States”.
