The Turkish authorities say that as a result of today’s earthquake in the west of the country there are no victims. It is alleged that in Istanbul, in the Fatikh area, one empty building collapsed. Residents of nine houses were evacuated.
At the same time, the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs is confirmed by about 130 repeated underground shocks with magnitude up to 5.9.
Although the authorities insist that as a result of the earthquake this time no one died, the Ministry of Health of Turkey confirmed that almost 240 people were injured only in Istanbul. Basically, we are talking about falling from a height due to panic, said Turkish Minister of Health Kemal Memishoglu.
On Wednesday, April 23, in the west of Turkey, an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reports. The epicenter of the underground shocks was 39 kilometers of the southwest of Buyukchm Medge, 26 km south of Silivri. The hearth lay at a depth of 6 kilometers. Strong underground shocks were felt in Istanbul.
Recall that in February 2023, about 50 thousand people became victims of strong earthquakes in southern Turkey and in the border regions of Syria.
