In Germany, the surviving Holocaust Margo Friedlander died. She died in the 104th year of her life, reports Deutsche Welle.

The day before, Friedlander participated in an event in the capital of Germany on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of the war. All the last years, she actively performed at ceremonies and in the media, preventing him from forgetting about the Holocaust and calling to preserve the memory of the crimes of National Socialism.

She founded a fund that should continue the struggle for freedom and democracy on behalf of those who survived the Holocaust, and after their death. Just a few days ago, Friedlander was awarded one of the main Gosnagrad Germany – the Great Cross of the Order for Merit to the Federal Republic of Germany.

Margo Friedlander was born in Berlin in 1921. Almost all her friends and relatives died in the Nazi death camp of Aushvitz-Birkenau (Auschwitz). She herself, having survived the Holocaust, after the war with her husband left for the United States, where she lived for many years. After the death of her wife, Margo returned to her native Berlin.
