In Rome, in the Peresestino area, at one of the gas stations, where there were containers with gasoline and reduced natural gas, a powerful explosion occurred in the morning of July 4.
Initially, the ten victims were reported, but after a few hours their number reached 45, while the condition of the two people is estimated by doctors as critical.
The explosion was caused by a gas leak.
The mayor of Rome Roberto Gaualteri, who visited the scene, announced serious destruction at the gas station and in the nearby sports center. Thick black smoke was visible to the inhabitants of several areas of the city at once.
