Mortal floods in the United States: “Everyone was caught”

Since the night of Thursday to Friday, stripped of water has been down on the center of Texas, transforming the roads into torrents and forcing Austin to cancel its legendary fireworks of 4-July, national day. But at 160 km further west, in the hills of the Hill Country, it is not the festivities that have been drowned, it is an entire region. In a few hours, the equivalent of a month of rain spilled, causing a lightning flood of the Guadalupe river – and a drama still in progress.

The aerial images that run in a loop on the American channels are impressive: the river rose approximately 8 m in 45 minutes from 4 am Friday morning, projecting a mobile home in the middle of the road. The river took with him the chalets located near his shores, where tourists had come to spend the weekend of July 4.
