The investigation into the tragic murder of British MP David Ames continues tonight (Friday), when the main suspect arrested is a 25-year-old British citizen of Somali descent, who was located immediately after the incident in possession of a knife. The investigation into the incident was also assigned to the Anti-Terrorism Unit, which may indicate one of the directions of the investigation.

The British Home Secretary, Pretty Patel, took the incident seriously and made it clear that it raises fundamental questions about the safety of MPs. “Ams’ assassination represents an unprecedented attack on democracy,” she added, and at the same time, demanded that the police investigate his security arrangements.

The British Royal Family, Prince Williams and Kate Middleton, said in response to the incident: “We are shocked and saddened by the death of David.” Other senior British government officials praised him, including the prime minister Boris Johnson. In addition, the flags at each other’s home, on Downing Street, were lowered to half-mast after news of his death.

Ames, 69, a member of the Conservative party led by Johnson, was stabbed to death in the afternoon while meeting with his constituents at a church in Layon-on-the-South-East England.
