The Komkus faction led by Vardan Ghukasyan has two new members of the Council of Elders

The Komkus faction of the Gyumri Council of Elders has two new members of the Council of Elders. Mayor’s relatives Gevorg Ghukasyan and Sedrak Sahakyan refused their mandates. They are detained on October 20, the day of the arrest of Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, in the case of mass riots. Today, Samson Elbakyan and Tigran Avagyan received a mandate instead of them.

Tigran Avagyan was arrested the other day on the charge of participating in the same mass riots.

In fact, 31 of the 33 members of the Gyumri Council of Elders will be able to participate in the upcoming session. At the moment, community leader Vardan Ghukasyan and Tigran Avagyan, who received the mandate today, are in prison. If the detained Komkus councilors did not give up their mandate, there would be a quorum problem. With this move, the opposition maintains its majority in the Council of Elders.
