The pope francis inst this saturday the media to end the “logic of post-truth” and misinformation, while calling on governments and politicians to work for the “common good” and be careful to listen only to economic elites.

The pontiff made these and other requests “in the name of God” in a thread of messages posted on his Twitter to give a “human face” to the socio-economic models in the face of the post-pandemic, after participating telematically in the IV World Meeting of Popular Movements.

“To the mass media, I ask that you end the logic of post-truth, misinformation, defamation, slander and that sick fascination with scandal and dirt; and that they seek to contribute to human brotherhood, “tweet.

He also requested the “Governments and all politicians“work for the” common good.

“Beware of listening only to the economic elites and be servants of the peoples who cry out for land, shelter, work and a good life in harmony with all humanity and with creation,” he added.

Among the claims made by the pope, the request to the Pharmaceutical companies to release patents on vaccines against the coronavirus and the cancellation by financial groups of the debts of the States “so many times contracted against the interests of those same peoples.”

The Supreme Pontiff also appealed to the large corporations mining, oil, forestry, real estate and agribusiness so that “they stop destroying nature, stop polluting, stop poisoning people and food.”

The pope concluded the series of messages with an appeal to all religious leaders: I pray that we never use God’s name to foment wars.
