Trump calls for investigations against Clinton in the Epstein case

In the Sex offender affair Jeffrey Epstein hat US President Donald Trump Investigations called for against former US President Bill Clinton and others. The Justice Department and the Federal Police FBI should investigate Epstein’s ties to the Democrat Clinton and “many other people and institutions” under the microscope, Trump wrote on Friday in online networks. The president himself is under pressure in the affair, but nothing has ever been proven against him.

Trump cited former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, the investor and entrepreneur Reid Hoffman and the major US bank JP Morgan Chase as examples. The Republican president had previously accused the opposition Democrats of doing everything they could to push the Epstein scam again in view of “their dwindling power.” Republican lawmakers who support Democrats’ efforts to release the Epstein files blasted Trump as “soft and stupid.”

Convicted US sex offender Epstein was found hanging in his prison cell in New York in 2019. He was accused of abusing numerous girls and young women and of grooming celebrities. Trump denies having close ties to Epstein.

However, Democratic members of Congress released several emails on Wednesday in which Epstein suggested that Trump was aware of the abuse of underage women. “Of course he knew about the girls,” Epstein wrote about Trump in an email in January 2019.

“Epstein was a Democrat”

In addition, the House of Representatives could pass a bipartisan motion as early as next week to force the Justice Department to release the remaining Epstein files. However, this would probably not have any concrete consequences. The Senate, in which Trump’s Republicans have the majority, would also have to approve the request. The bill would then be presented to Trump for his signature.

The president again rejected the move. “Epstein was a Democrat and he is the Democrats’ problem, not the Republicans’,” he wrote. “Don’t waste your time with Trump. I have a country to run.”

In the case, the current president came under pressure from his own camp because his government had not shed light on the scandal as promised before the presidential election. Some of Trump’s Republicans recently published more than 20,000 documents from the Epstein estate. However, Trump was never proven to have committed any wrongdoing in the affair.
