Dozens of Indian pilgrims die in road accident in Saudi Arabia

45 Indian pilgrims were killed in Saudi Arabia when their bus, traveling from Mecca to Medina, collided with a fuel tank and caught fire. Another passenger survived, his condition is listed as critical.

According to Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, a group of 54 people flew from the city to Jeddah on November 9. The pilgrimage was to continue until November 23. Four members of the group were traveling by car, while two more remained in Mecca for personal reasons.

“I am deeply shocked by the road accident in Medina, which claimed the lives of fellow citizens. My thoughts are with the families who lost loved ones. I pray that the victims recover as soon as possible. Our embassy in Riyadh and consulate in Jeddah are providing all necessary assistance,” said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
