Agreement between Macron and Zelensky: France will supply Ukraine with 100 Rafale aircraft

A meeting between French President Emanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky took place at the Villacoublay airbase in the outskirts of Paris. Politicians signed a preliminary agreement to supply Ukraine with 100 Rafale combat aircraft with the necessary weapons, as well as new air defense systems.

The agreement, the implementation of which is designed for ten years, will allow Ukraine to become the owner of SAMP-T mobile anti-aircraft missile systems. It provides for the supply of radar installations and means to combat UAVs. The amount of the transaction is not disclosed, as are the sources of its financing.

“This is a great day,” Macron commented on the signing of the agreement on the social network. “Historic day,” Zelensky agreed with him in his own post on social networks.

Zelensky’s visit to France is already the ninth during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. It takes place against the backdrop of a corruption scandal affecting the Ukrainian government, as well as notable Russian successes at the front.
