The United Kingdom reported this Sunday 45,140 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, a peak since mid-July in a country where infections remain above 40,000 per fifth day, the health authorities reported this Sunday.
Meanwhile, the total number of admitted to hospitals remained stable below the alert level, standing at around 7,000, while the deaths fell to 57 compared to 145 the previous day, reported the Ansa news agency.
The country, which reopened without significant restrictions since July 19, maintains a high rate of infections but low in terms of hospitalizations and deaths due to the fact that 80% of the population over 12 years of age has a double dose of some of the enabled vaccines.
Since the start of the pandemic, the United Kingdom has recorded 138,237 deaths out of 8,317,443 positive cases, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
