The case of the family living in the woods enters Parliament. The League presents a question

“The League intends to present an urgent question on the affair of family separated from three children in the province of Chieti. The Court’s choice to entrust the minors to a community, even though there were no reports of mistreatment against them, requires absolute clarity, especially in a country where cases of children taken from their families in contexts of illegality, such as Roma camps”. Thus the group leaders of the Chamber and Senate League Riccardo Molinari and Massimiliano Romeo.

Salvini: “I will follow the matter directly”

“As a parent, I am ashamed of how the Italian state is behaving.” Matteo Salvini says this on Radio24 when speaking about the “Australian mother who was a teacher and a father who was a chef and with three children, who – he underlines – have done a different life choice, not to live in the center amid haste and anxiety but in contact with nature, with a private teacher for their children”. In essence, we are talking about the Chietino family who decided to live in a house in the woods and yesterday’s provision from the Juvenile Court of L’Aquila, which decided to transfer the children to a community with their mother.

“I propose, not as a minister but as a parent, as a father and as an Italian, to follow the matter directly and if necessary, to go there because I consider it shameful – reiterates the deputy prime minister and leader of the League – that the State is concerned with entering into the merits of private education, of the personal life choices of two parents who have found Italy to be a hospitable country and which instead steals their children”.

They don’t have electricity, water or television. But I – argues Salvini – was in the Roma camp in Giugliano, on the outskirts of Naples last week, with hundreds of children of school age but not at school, dirty, without teachers, without electricity, gas and water and with parents who, in many cases, make a living by stealing. Where are the social workers there? Where is the Prosecutor’s Office, the Juvenile Court, the State?”.
