One of the two killed in an Israeli operation in Hebron, West Bank, identified as a teenager

The Palestinian authorities have reported this Sunday that one of those killed at the hands of the Israeli Army during a raid carried out on Saturday in the West Bank city of Hebron is a 17-year-old teenager, after an operation that resulted in the death of two Palestinians and which is part of the increase in Israeli raids in the West Bank.

The Ministry of Health linked to the Palestinian Authority has indicated in a brief message on its Telegram account that the deceased has been identified as Ahmed Jalil Ahmed al Rayabi, 17 years old, “shot by the occupation Army in the Bab al Zawiya area of ​​Hebron” during the afternoon of Saturday.

Hours earlier, it had been confirmed that the second deceased was Naim abú Daud, a 55-year-old cleaning worker hit by Israeli gunfire in the area of ​​​​the event, while the Israeli Army maintained that two “terrorists” tried to run over soldiers, who responded by opening fire.

However, Israeli military sources later indicated to The Times of Israel that only one person was driving the vehicle and that the other deceased is a “civilian not involved” in the incident. Israeli troops later transferred the body of one of the suspects, which would have resulted in a delay in his identification.

The United Nations recently stated that more than a thousand Palestinians have died in the West Bank at the hands of soldiers or radical settlers since October 7, 2023, the date of the attacks launched against Israel by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions, although in the nine months prior to 7-O the highest number of Palestinian deaths in the West Bank had been recorded since the Second Intifada, two decades earlier.
